Mauro Lanza


Born in Venezia in 1975, after studying piano and harmony and counteroint at conservatory B. Marcello, Mauro Lanza is selected by comité de lectureof Ensemble Intercontemporain and Ircam to partecipate to the «Course of composition and computer music»in 1998-99. After the studies, he works at the same institution as « researcher-composer » and teacher, working above all on synthesis for physical models and on assisted composition.
His music has been played in many festivals: the concert season of Ircam, Festival Présences (Radio France), Biennale di Venezia, Festival Musica (Strasbourg), Gaudeamus Music Week of Amsterdam, Festival Montréal Nouvelle Musique, Europäische Musikmonat (Base), Biennale Musiques en scène (Lyon), Festival Les Musiques (Marseille) and Ars Musica (Bruxelles), working closely with interpreters such as Ensemble Court-Circuit conducted by P.A. Valade, Ensemble Alternance, Ensemble United Berlin, Ensemble l’Itinéraire, Ensemble Champs d’Action, Divertimento Ensemble, the chamber choir Accentus, Jeune Chœur de Paris conducted by Laurence Equilbey and Denis Comtet, Ensemble MusikFabrik, Neue Vocalsolisten, Percussione de Strasbourg and also with Donatienne Michel-Dansac, Francesco Filidei, Vincent David, David Zambon, Pierre-Stéphane Meugé and Denys Bouliane.
L’Ircam and the Festival Archipel of Geneva hailed him in 2002 and 2004 three monographic concerts. In 2005 he created the original music for the ballet « Le songe de Médée » by Angelin Preljocaj, commissioned by Opera de Paris Ircam.
He has been guest professor of composition at McGill University (Montréal) in 2004-2005.
Since 2004 he is professor of « assisted composition on computer » in the class of music and new technologies at Conservatory of Cuneo.
Since 2004 his works are edited by Ricordi BMG.
In 2006 he has been resident at Civitella Ranieri Center and grant recipient of Academy of France in Roma at Villa Medici in 2007/2008.
