Carlo Goldstein

Carlo Goldstein is one of the young emerging conductors on the international scene. After winning first prize at the International Conducting Competition of Graz in 2009, he began working intensely in Italy and abroad. In recent seasons, he’s conducted in Russia, the Tomsk Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, the Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Arkhangelsk Chamber Orchestra, the Murmansk Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, and the Hermitage Symphony Orchestra; the Berlin Chamber Soloists for the Società dei Concerti in Milan’s Sala Verdi and, together with the pianist Roberto Prosseda and the Ra’anana Symphonette of Tel Aviv, he presented the Concert for piano and orchestra n. 3 by Mendelssohn for the first time ever in Israel.
He has also conducted the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, MDI ensemble, Divertimento Ensemble with soloist Alda Caiello in Pierrot Lunaire by Schönberg and the Archi del Cherubino for the Società Barattelli in the city of L’Aquila.
This current season began with Boris Godunov at the Palau de les arts in Valencia. Among his upcoming performances, there is Così fan tutte with the Youth Opera of San Pietroburgo, the Barber of Seville at the Opera Nazionale of Carelia and a symphic concert with the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Sicily. At the beginning of summer 2012, he’ll conduct some performances of Carmen at Venice’s La Fenice and will open the next Opera Season at the Teatro Maruccino of Chieti, conducting Elisir d’amore. During the next season, he will also conduct the Samara Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia and, at the Teatro Comunale of  Bologna, a concert as a part of the programme The Schönberg Experience.
In April of 2011, the magazine Amadeus released a recording of three Mozart Concerts Mozart with the pianist Andrea Bacchetti and the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto.
With a diploma in pianoforte under the guidance of Prof. Giuliana Gulli at the Conservatorio Tartini in Trieste, Carlo Goldstein has continued his education by studying composition, as well as completing the conducting course at the Accademia internazionale della musica in Milan, taught by M° Emilio Pomarico. He has also taken advanced courses at London’s Royal College of Music in San Pietroburgo and, most importantly, the Mozarteum of Salzburg where he studied for two years.

Carlo Goldstein, in addition to his extensive musical studies, has a degree in Philosophy – Esthetics – from Milan’s Università Statale and has published various pieces on subjects regarding esthetics and musical history. Italy’s Sky satellite classical musical channel, Classica, dedicated an entire episode of their series Notevoli – which features Italy’s emerging young musical talents – to Carlo Goldstein.
