Mdi ensemble was born in 2002 with the idea of contributing to diffusion and improvement of contemporary music in Italy and abroad.
From the beginning, mdi ensemble have focused his studies and attention on a selected repertory including, besides the well known contemporary composers and of the last century, the living composers emerging in Europe and all over the world, performing also Italian and world première.
The ensemble has been playing in around concerts: at Teatro Bibiena in Mantova, PAC and Teatro Filodrammatici Milano, Sala Piatti in Bergamo, Conservatory in Como and Bologna, Mittelfest, Lingotto Musica in Torino, Festival Milano Musica, Musica d'Insieme, Spazio Sirin Milano, Festival Contemporaneamente in Lodi. Ouside of Italy, the ensemble has played at the Tonhalle in Dusseldorf, Konzerthaus in Dortmut, Japanese Institut in Koln, Theater Forteza of Mallorca, LACMA in Los Angeles. In January 2008, in cohoperation with Cemat Institute, mdi has performed in Tokyo several concerts playing music by Sylvano Bussotti. In 2008 the ensemble has recorded the CD “Antiterra” with music composed by Stefano Gervasoni just published by AEON – Paris and it's currently working on other recording productions. Mdi ensemble has recently opened the "Rassegna nuove carriere 2008" organized by CIDIM in Palermo. Mdi collaborates with the Japan Foundation in Rome for the diffusion of the new japanese music.
Mdi concerts have been broadcasted by Radio Rai Tre and by Radio Rai International. Future engagements will see the ensemble invited in South America visiting Lima, Montevideo, Santa Fè & Mexico City.
