Lorenzo Gentili-Tedeschi
Lorenzo Gentili-Tedeschi was born in Milan on December 31, 1988. At the age of 16 he graduated cum laude in the class of Mauro Catalano at “Istituto Musicale Pareggiato Gaetano Donizetti” in Bergamo. He attended lessons and master classes with Felix Ayo, Giovanni Guglielmo, Giulio Franzetti, with Boris Belkin at the Academia Chigiana of Siena, with Salvatore Accardo and two yars in the Academy of Pavia with Marco Rogliano. Meanwhile, he obtained his first Master at the Milan Conservatory with 110/110 cum laude.
In june 2010 he graduated with Francesco de Angelis in the Master Level Course at the Haute école de Sion (Switzerland) playing Beethoven violin concerto with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra.
Since he was very young he took part in national and international competitions, always winning prizes. In 2000 he won the 1°Concorso per giovani musicisti Città di Meda, in 2001 he was considered qualified to the scolarship at the “37° Rassegna nazionale violinisti studenti” of Vittorio Veneto, in 2004 he was second and winner of a scholarship in Schio, in 2005 won the first prize and the special prize of the jury at the “4° Concorso di esecuzione musicale Città di Riccione”. The town of Urgnano donates to him the 2005 scholarship for the many accomplishments and in the same year he wins the Mayr prize as best graduated student of the Istituto Donizetti, playing then as soloist the K 216 Concert by Mozart at the Teatro Filodrammatici of Treviglio. He gave many concerts in Milan (Sala della Triennale, Palazzo Marino, Circolo Ufficiali, Palazzina Liberty), Bergamo (Sala Piatti, Castello di Urgnano) and in many others italian cities as Trieste (Revoltella museum), Saronno, Meda, Melzo.
Since 2007 he is concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Academy Teatro alla Scala in Milan: he played Così fan Tutte at the Teatro alla Scala and Teatro Strehler. He gave many symphonic concerts too, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in March 2008 for the 8° Al Ain Music Festival, Milan, Brescia.
In December 2008, he was also admitted to the Ensemble of Contemporary Music held by the Academy of Teatro alla Scala, developing his repertoire of the XX century (composers such as Francesconi, Gervasoni, Torke, Milhaud, Martinu, Copland, Henze, Britten, Benjamin) and working with several directors (George-Elie Octors, Olivier Cuendet, Renato Rivolta, Giorgio Bernasconi): he is the concertmaster and first violin soloist of this Ensemble. In the near future he will play in Venice (Biennale), Milan (Teatro alla Scala), Lugano (RTSI auditorium).
Concerning his orchestral experience, he has been member since 2006 of the Solisti di Pavia, the chamber orchestra directed by Enrico Dindo, with whom he played in the main cities of Italy (Milan, Rome, Bologna, Vicenza, Forlì, Brescia) and Malta. He works with the Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro alla Scala (Milan),too, with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, David Robertson, Christoph Eshenbach and Myun Whun Chung. In October 2009 he played as assistant concertmaster of the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala in Idomeneo under the direction of Myun Whun Chung and in Giselle conducted by Paul Connelly.
As a member of Mephisto Violin Clarinet Trio, founded in 2008, he won the Beltrami Competition held by the Milan Conservatory and gave concerts in Milan (Sala Verdi, Università Statale, Sala Puccini), Roma (Accademia Santa Cecilia) and others.
In 2009 he was invited by his teacher, Francesco de Angelis, and by the violist Roberto Tarenzi to form the Quartetto Verdi with Claudia Ravetto cellist, giving concerts in Milan, Magenta, Rivoli.
Since 2010 he is Francesco de Angelis assistant at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne – Sion - Fribourg.
