7th EDITION
Sound of Wander: geografie dell’ascolto is an invitation to explore the musical languages of our time. Three interconnected paths move through this experience: the monographic concerts, the dialogues with composers and Lisa Streich’s international composition masterclass.
What is a musical community? The program of all the events was born from this question: investigating the point of intersection between individual creativity and cultural belonging in musical composition. Four composers’ portraits, their works and their attitude towards the musical practice lead us to wonder about the concept of authorship, even questioning it or simply reinterpreting it in light of the relationship with others artists, with history, with popular culture.
The values of gratitude and friendship emerge from the work of Carlo Ciceri, composer and animator of artistic collectives from the years of his musical studies until his tragic death; from the countless biographical and intellectual ties that connect Luciano Berio to the best culture of his time, but also to the “popular” music fully integrated into his works; from the homage that Francesca Verunelli wanted to pay to James Tenney, source of inspiration for her musical research on natural intonation and algorithmic composition; from the dedication that Lisa Streich addresses to Francesca, the piece that will close the exhibition, testimony of a feeling of belonging to a cosmopolitan and underground community, committed to musical research.
