NEWMUSIC WEEK 2023: INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CONTEMPORARY MUSIC

mdi ensemble and Accademia Filarmonica Romana promote the fourth edition of NEW MUSIC WEEK, a workshop dedicated to the writing and the performance of contemporary music. The proposal includes a seven day workshop, divided into two sections:
1: an international composition masterclass, teaching composers Marco Stroppa and Franck Bedrossian;
2: an instrumental music masterclass focused on contemporary music techniques in solo and chamber
music repertoire (1950 to nowadays). Player of the following instruments are eligible to participate: flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, piano.

The workshop includes different types of student concerts:
an opening concert, held by mdi ensemble;
concerts linked to the composition master class – performance of pieces by the composition students and teachers, with the participation of mdi ensemble;
concerts of chamber music and solo pieces studied in the instrumental masterclass.
The goal of New Music Week is to improve the knowledge of the technical and aesthetic problem connected to the practice and interpretation of contemporary music, promoting the value of collaboration between composers and performers.
